Whenever we’ll see A leaf dancing… It’s you caressing her, Like you have always Caressed our hearts and souls. Whenever we listen To a bird singing… It’s your voice Reminding us to keep on Singing and dancing with serenity. Whenever we feel A breeze… It’s you touching our spirits To keep on smiling And living life to the full. You were and remain One of life’s precious gifts. You will dwell in us forever, Transmitting energy and love With that wonderful smile of yours That can never die. ‘Live the moment without hurting others’, That’s what you believed in, And that’s why you’re with God And cleansed from any sin. May we touch other’s hearts Like you have touched ours And may we continue your blessed deeds To meet both human’s and nature’s needs. Although your passing away has shocked us We rest assured that you have died in peace, In a place you loved so much, Connected as one… With nature, With earth, With any living thing. However this can never be an end For our love we will always receive and send. Resurrect with Jesus and in all of us, We will feel you by our sides forever. Let us love ourselves and others, Let us all be sisters and brothers. You have always helped me to free myself from any negative energy Today I pass this special gift to others So they learn to kill their possible worst enemy NATASHA TURNER |
| NIKI CASSAR....a tribute |
Niki, aged 29, died in a motorcycle accident on April 19 in Bali, where he was working as a community worker. Niki left an impact on all the people who were fortunate enough to know him. His family and friends wanted to make sure that his funeral would be a ‘feast’ in memory of his determination to live life to the full. Prior to the funeral, people were instructed not to wear black and to bring along plants, which will be used to adorn a garden in a house dedicated to Niki’s charitable work. On entering the church everyone was offered Nicky’s favourite sweets, a bookmark and a copy of a poem by Natasha Turner that was later read out in church. People could also write their own personal message in a special book. Niki was carried into the church in a white coffin to the applause of all those present and to the sound of Latin American music. Sharing her experiences in the beginning of the service, Niki’s close friend Clare Agius said: ‘Niki was very fond of Latin American culture- it meant a lot to him.’ Niki and Clare had visited Peru together. She described him as a beautiful creation. (Hlejqa Sabiha Several of Niki’s relatives and close friends spoke of the way Niki brought a smile in their lives. They all united in their determination to keep alive his dream of making a difference in the lives of others and urged everyone to follow his example. The mass was officiated by Fr Joe Sciberras and Fr Karm Debattistta. In his homily, Fr Debattista paid homage to Nicky’s short but eventful life. ‘Nicky was always free - free enough to get up and go to help those who were in need,’ he said. |
