I am the 30-ish married mother of two. My husband and I, and our children, live in a small town in Alabama, the Bible Belt. Needless to say I do NOT know others who are on the same spiritual path in the area.
I was raised Southern Baptist, with wonderful Christian parents. We were a Southern Baptist family, and I graduated from a Baptist college. While Southern Baptists are a conservative denomination, my parents were not fundamentalists. I planned a career in Christian ministry, for which purpose I was licensed for public ministry by my home church.
In seeking a deeper spiritual walk, more freedom for the roles of women, more of the power of God and explanations for some unusual psychic/ mystical/ supernatural events in my life, I found the Pentecostal movement, where I spent 7 years, having been both a member and staff of a local church. Unsatisfied with the bondage that can come with organized churches, my husband and I left.
Throughout my life, as I reflect, I see God calling me toward this path. Having spent 2 years (as of February 2000) studying a wider spectrum of spirituality, I am finally content with my spiritual path.
I follow the Most High God, transcendent and immanent, encompassing of both genders in which male and female were both made. I follow the path to God shown in the example of the life of Jesus the Christ. All around me is the Creation of the Creator, over which I have been vested responsibility -- to tend, to care, and to work with for the better of all Creation. Hence, my terminology Natural Christianity for my spiritual path.
