Just what is it? It's a four day event dedicated to the sharing of information and experiences about the Native American Flute. It's a time for those who love and enjoy the flute to connect with like-minded folks.
Think of the word spring. It evokes images of springtime with the renewing of life, the dormant seeds, bulbs, and plants bursting forth. The drab winter is left behind and possibilities fill the air. If you feel as if your flute playing or flute connection has been having its own winter, then this is the place for you! You'll find that warmth of spring to help you bloom.
Maybe the word spring reminds you of the place where water issues forth from the earth, a fountainhead, a place where thirst is quenched or where life-giving substance bubbles up from hidden depths. If you've been thirsty for the company of like-minded folks, if you've been in need of inspiration then this event is the place for you.
These four days hold many possibilities for all. Grounded in the belief that we all have gifts to share, this Spring will take its shape from what we bring to it. We'll gather on Thursday for the eveningmeal and begin the process of building a community. Friday we will share our gifts and talents with the community by a visit to the local public school (grades 3, 4, &5) and with each other. We will also have time for the flutemakers to introduce their flutes to us and for those who have recordings or song books to make them available to us. We'll have two more days to explore what we each bring. Your gifts to share may be in areas other than the Native American Flute. Perhaps you will share your healing talents or your knowledge of nature. We might choose to do a performance in a lovely old quarry where the Native American Flute sounds wonderful (weather permitting). A drumming by the campfire or a sing-a-long are options. The novice will find many a helping hand for every aspect of the Native American Flute. Those who use the Native American Flute for their personal journey will find like-minded souls to walk beside for a while. Information on performing, electronics, music theory, TAB and virtually any other aspect of the Native American Flute will be available. |
