CREDO

FIRST CHRISTIANS ECCLESIA

We believe that our most precious possession is Life.

We believe we shall mobilize all the forces of Life against the forces of death.

We believe that mutual understanding leads toward mutual cooperation; that mutual cooperation leads toward Peace; and that Peace is the only way of survival for mankind.

We believe that we shall preserve rather than waste our natural resources, which are the heritage of our children.

We believe that we shall avoid the pollution of our air, water, and soil, the basic preconditions of Life.

We believe we shall preserve the vegetation of our planet: the humble grass which came fifty million years ago, and the majestic trees which came twenty million years ago, to prepare our planet for mankind.

We believe we shall eat only fresh, natural, pure, whole foods, without chemicals and artificial processing.

We believe we shall live a simple, natural, creative life, absorbing all of the sources of energy, harmony, and knowledge, in and around us.

We believe that the improvement of life and mankind on our planet must start with individual efforts, as the whole depends on the atoms composing it.

We believe in the Fatherhood of God, the Motherhood of Nature, and the Brotherhood of Man.

-composed in Paris in 1928 by Romain Rolland and Edmond Bordeaux Székely

This credo, adopted for our use as an ECCLESIA over a decade ago, is a foundation statement published by The International Biogenic Society "...a nonsectarian, nonpolitical, scientific, educational association of Individual Associate Members and Associate Teachers, for the teaching of the various aspects of Biogenic Living as well as the many all-sided practical applications of the ancient Essene Teachings in our daily lives in the twentieth century." The Society was founded in Paris in 1928 by the Nobel prize-winning author Remain Rolland and the philosopher Edmond Bordeaux Szekely, Ph.D.

The IBS evolved out of Dr. Szekely's research on ancient civilizations and religions, and in particular on the Essene brotherhood of first century A.D. Judaea. Early in his education, Dr. Szekely earned the privilege of studying ancient manuscripts at the Archives of the Vatican, under the direction of Msgr. Mercati. His research began with the study of the venerable Saint Francis, which led him to the writings of Saint Benedict and the manuscripts that he had preserved that dated back to the fourth century A.D. These manuscripts were Saint Jerome's translations of first-century biblical codices, which included Hebrew writings of the Essene Brotherhood.

During the middle of the fourth century A.D., Saint Jerome spent twenty years traveling in the Holy Land deciphering fragments of ancient first-century A.D. manuscripts. During this time he gathered letters from an ancient brotherhood of the desert known as the Essenes, and began translating these fragments from Hebrew into Latin. Having gained a reputation as a scholar of first-century Hebrew manuscripts, he was commissioned by Pope Damasus I (St. Damasus), who founded the Papal Library, to revise the New Testament, using the newly translated first-century letters. These new translations included a number of "Apocryphal Documents" which were preserved at the Vatican, and were recently rediscovered and translated by Dr. Sezekely. These writing explained a formula for living that the Essenes practiced, which Dr. Sezekely calls "Biogenic Living."

THE INTERNATIONAL BIOGENIC SOCIETY

In 1928 Dr. Sezekely translated "The Essene Gospel of Peace" into modern languages, and today over ten million readers have absorbed its message. Moreover, the International Biogenic Society is now represented around the world, instructing people in "The Essene Way of Biogenic Living."
