The Tusken Raider Page
For Tusken stuff click here.
On this page you will find lots of information on the costume and other things of interest about the Tusken Raider. The first thing here is the costume. You gotta have the costume to be a real tusken raider(and if you have the voice, then you could run around in the costume scaring everyone, hehehe!).
The Robes
The first thing I will show you haw to make is the robes.

The inner robe:
The first thing to do is to find the right cloth. The best kind(in my humble opinion) is a tan canvas you can find at Wal-Mart or other places that sell fabric. Then get about 7 or 8 yards of it. Now, take about 8 feet and fold it in half(or however much it takes to come down to your knees. After that cut a big bubble letter T out of it. BE SURE TO MAKE SURE IT FITS AROUND YOU and is pretty baggy. The top part of the T is for the arms. Now cut a slit in the top of the T to put your head through. Then you must stitch up the sides and turn it inside-out, so the seam is on the inside. Be sure to leave holes for you hands to come out. Then tie a sash around the middle and wal-la! You're done!(with this part)

The outer robe:
This is just a big piece of fabric with a hole in the middle for you head. To dirty it up rub some dirt on it.

The Breather
The breathing mechanism is quite simple to make. Start off
with a can of tomato paste, cut a slit lengthwise along the can
and drain the paste. Rinse the can clean.
Note: Do not remove the top or bottom of the can! You'll
need it later. The silver pieces on each end of the breather
are simply the caps to paint bottles. A hole was drilled in the
center of each cap to allow the brass pieces to go through.
The brass pieces are miscellanous plumbing pieces found
at the hardware store. There were two pieces used on each
side (four total).
Working with one side only: one piece goes on top of the silver
paint cap and another goes through the hole on the other
side of the paint cap and screws in to the first brass fitting.
To make the silver harness, run a piece of wire coat hangar
through plastic tubing. The coat hangar will allow harness to
be custom bent to fit you. After painting the tubing silver, you
may want to wrap it in more cloth bandages so the paint won't
rub off on your suit.

The final step is to wrap the tomato paste can in brown leather
or vinyl. (from Obi-Wans Jedi academy)
