This particular haunt actually originated in the city Santa Ana in 1995. Ben "borrowed" the basic idea from another haunted house, but improved upon the design, added special effects, and a few surprises of his own. It started with a strobe light, and black plastic sheets, but for the next several years, the "Haunted Hallway" attracted trick-or-treaters from several cities away. Every year the Haunted Hallway increased in complexity, size, and scariness... until Ben moved. The Haunted Hallway died.
In 2001, an attempt to resurrect the life of the hallway was made one year at the "Tiller Trick-or-Treat" on Tustin High School's Campus. And though the "treaters" enjoyed the haunt immensly, the attempt was a disappointment to Ben and his crew. Again, the haunt died.
In, 2003, the Haunt was revitalized with a fresh design/production crew, who started preparing for the Haunt especially early and had a wealth of spooky ideas to put to use. This was the year that the "Tustin Haunt" came into its own, due to the fact that the haunting took place in the city of Tustin. The haunt design was the brain child of the Ghastly Three (Ben, Jen, & Kevin) a.k.a. the G-3.
The G-3 took the haunt to the next level of fright with some new tricks and a layout that made good use of a 22'x42' plot of land. A graveyard, glow zone, hanging, and light tunnel were all part of the technical aspects of 2003's Tustin Haunt. The haunt is officially revived!
2004 proved to be an exciting Halloween! Something completely new that G-3 were testing was the idea of a theme to the haunt. Please check out 2004's page for more on the aftermath of The Chainsaw Massacre
In 2005 we continued with a themed haunt. Not quite as much of a story line as last year, but this allowed us to keep the Haunt VERY scary. 2005's theme was Dungeon of Death. Featured portions wwere: an actual execution, an electric chair, a corpse burning at the stake, and an elaborate entrace through a swamp with a bridge. What fun we had in 2005!
If You want to know something REALLY scary, we still use some of the poles from the original Haunted Hallway... those things have to be over 9 years old! Don't get too freaked out... some of the lighting we use is even OLDER! Yes, we are really just in it for the fun. |
