thai ta / BLOG 1 HOME MY BLOG MY TWO CENTS next blog ... November 2005 / The latest thing for Christmas is an upside down Christmas tree. What will they think of next? I guess the next step is a tree that can sing carols, change light colors, dance around the living room. We already had robot pets a few years ago. I think we have robot maids in Japan now. I want a robot Christmas tree! In any case, holiday season is here. I am so looking forward to catch up on my leisure reading, after all the dry textbooks. On my list: Bie^n Ta` Ta` by Hoa`ng mai d+a.t (I always like the sound of his name, it's like a character in old Chinese stories), the two novels by Sharon Shinn from the Archangel series -- Angelica and Angel Seeker (I hope and pray that her novels would be discovered by Hollywood soon, Angelina Jolie would be perfect for the heroine role in Archangel), a book recommended by Oprah, A Million Little Pieces by James Frey, (something about a drug addict, not my cup of tea but comments on the covers sound great). Also, there are a couple of movies that I wouldn't mind to actually pay to watch in the theater: Memoirs of a Geisha, the new Harry Potter, and another fantasy movie Narnia. It always amazes me that from writers' imagination, glorious pictures come alive with technologies and of course the wizardry of directors and actors. I love to be in a movie somehow, to be a part of that kind of art form. Just once. Just to know what's it like. Like with my .com. The whole thing started out with a fotoart I did using a photo of green leaves and dew that anh Thanh sent out. I had the Adobe Photoshop from the scanner I just bought. So, I was trying out a few tricks, and before I knew it, hundreds of fotoarts appeared. Next, a few events that made me think of what-if-i-died, what-would-i-leave-behind. 2005 has been a year filled with global disasters, such as tsunami in Asia, Katrina, earthquake in Pakistan&India, not to mention the looming avian flu threat. Personally, I thought I might have to donate a kidney to my brother and what-if-i-didn't-make-it. And so, middle age, fear of disappearing without leaving anything behind, wanting to keep my photos, my dad's book, my own book safe just in case had prompted me to have this website. We all move between worlds, and here friends and strangers alike can experience other worlds of mine that they haven't encountered. I do like to say this, though. What you see or read are mostly highlights of my life. Real life is tedious, boring. But, I do want to keep myself busy with a hope of becoming an active senior. It's coming fast, I can feel it in my bones. I'll be 42 next April. How does one grow old gracefully, I wonder. So, my friends, don't take life too seriously. Browse my website at your own discretion. You have the power of the mouse click. Laugh with me a little. Cry, a little. See the common-ness we all share. Don't be weird when you see me in real life, like when I'm buying food-to-go somewhere or I don't know, whatever scenario... And, of course, CHARITY. Donate something to some causes, okay ;) |
