2 VERSIONS OF THE SONG "2 BECOME 1"
INTRO: I have been and always will be a huge fan of the Spice Girls. Being such a fan I noticed something recently. There are two versions of their song '2 Become 1.'

SUMMARY: The Spice Girls stormed onto the music scene with their worldwide smash album 'Spice.' Every single released from that album hit #1. Their first single was "Wannabe," followed by "Say You'll Be There" with "2 Become 1" being the third, but not the final, single.

THE PROBLEM:  The track is number 3 on the 'Spice' album. On the album, Ginger (Geri) is singing and the lines go: 'Any deal that we endeavour/Boys and girls feel good together.' That is also what the lyrics in the album state. Here are the lyrics from the same part from the music video/single that was released. This time it is Posh (Victoria) singing! The lines go: 'Once again, if we endeavour/Love will bring us back together.' Why two different singers? Why the different lyrics?

THE HYPOTHESIS: Nobody has ever brought this up to the Spice Girls and I have never heard them discuss it. This part is just what I assume. After the album was finished but before they started releasing the singles, the Spice Girls and/or their management must not have assumed what a HUGE gay following they would have. It became apparent very fast after they started to release singles. By then, it was too late because their album was already released with the lyrics about boys and girls being together. Not wanting to alienate their gay fans, the lyrics were changed on the SINGLE version of the song and for the music video. Their management urged radio stations to play the SINGLE version because it did not have the lyrics about boys and girls going together. That is why I think the lyrics were changed. As to why they went from Geri to Victoria, I am unsure. Of their solo work, Geri has the largest gay following! They should of had her singing the different lyrics on the single.
