A Day in Berlin, III

Wednesday, August 2, 2000

For the last few minutes of the day in Berlin, we looked around the famous plaza called the "Alexanderplatz" in the former soviet sector, or East Berlin. It's all one big city now. At the Alexanderplatz you will find the famous East Berlin Television Tower. For a short while you also would have found Griffin and his partner Sven right underneath it.
Our students move in on the camara with the TV tower in the background. Cool. And one last group picture at the fountain in the Alexanderplatz. A drunk tried to weasle his way in to the picture. After a time, he lost interest in our group and departed.
A view of the TV tower from across the street. It is an impressive site from where ever you are in Berlin. And lastly, Herr B. poses in front of the "Weltzeituhr," or world clock in the Alexanderplatz. Only 11 short years ago our students would never have been able to visit this once communist part of the city.
