Wiesenfest in Gefrees!

Monday, July 10, 2000

The Wiesenfest is a festival that the whole town of Gefrees celebrates every year. It is similar to a travelling amusement park of sorts, with the centerpiece being the beer drinking tent. But one would be mistaken if one thought that is all the Germans do for Wiesenfest. This afternoon our GAPPIES got to see a wonderful parade down the main street of Gefrees. Many of the town's children marched in it. Almost all of the Gappies were to be found at the Wiesenfest! Erich, Danny and Bud enjoyed the day with their partners.
At lunch time it was time for some Bratwurt and cokes (but not beer!). Nicole and Heather rode together on one of the rides called the "Happy Monster." Although not Disneyland, it was fun nonetheless as you can tell on their faces!
Steve poses with Jessica's partner, Regina, while riding on the "Happy Monster." At the end of the evening, the last day of the Wiesenfest, the whole town marched down to the church in order to hear a speach by the mayor and to close the Wiesenfest for the year 2000.
