Let's be a rainbow in the Clouds !
Join hands to eliminate suffering

Never would have Paul Harris dreamt that Eradication of Polio would become the most important mission of Rotary and that it would become a massive movement involving every single Rotarian. Billions of dollars apart, the time and energy willingly spent by the busy Rotarians is an indicator towards the tremendous potential of the Rotarians and their families to indulge in service to the suffering mankind, the potential to make the Founder's dream come true

PAUL PERCY HARRIS

FOUNDER OF ROTARY

Polio Eradication was our obsession. Picture on the left shows Principal  Dr. Rita Baxi of Modinagar, UP giving polio vaccine. Our member Dr. J.M.I. Sait worked as Rotary Volunteer in UP and successfully motivated the reluctant and violent communities to vaccinate their children. His work was highly commended by all those concerned with Pulsepolio initiatives.

People with disabilities had always been our weakness. In October 1994 our members personally took 20 patients of age from 3  to 50 years and their escorts to Bangalore to obtain for them limbs and calipers at an artificial limb camp.

And that marked the beginning of a series of camps being conducted with active involvement of our Club members, at various places in the district, the last one being in Trivandum in January 2001 where 914 appliances were distributed free of cost, taking the total beneficiaries so far served by the club  beyond 10,000- orthopaedically handicapped persons accounting for more than 7,000. The next camp is being organized at Nagercoil in August/ September2001
