Restaurant

Transcribed via microcassette and VCR tape. The restaurant name and entree name are changed.

[Exterior, day. Long shot of cows on green grass, looking up at camera. Moo-ing in background with some bird twitters. Voices are off screen.]

CLIFF
So you guys have ta, feed the cows first thing in the morning?

BOY
Yeah, most of the time.

CLIFF
They get their breakfast, right?

[As conversation continues, medium shots of: CLIFF, the friendly spokesman for Breakfast Restaurants, on the farm, interviewing two kids--a teenage GIRL and a BOY (who is about eleven). The KIDS are sitting on a split rail fence and CLIFF is standing. The KIDS are about a foot above CLIFF's eye level. The kids wear at least two shirts each, and long pants and tall rubber boots. CLIFF wears a jean jacket, work shirt, and jeans. The boy is very engaging and modest, nice smile. The camera moves informally.]

BOY
Yeah. [GIRL and CLIFF echo, "Yeah."]

CLIFF
Do you always get your breakfast in the morning?

BOY
Not always, but--

CLIFF
Would you ever have breakfast for lunch or for dinner maybe?

BOY
[smiling] That sounds good! That's fine! Hah, huh. [GIRL quietly agrees, smiling]

CLIFF
What about pancakes for dinner?

[Immediate switch to smooth close-up pan of entrees as CLIFF continues speaking and birds continue twittering. Logo is superimposed in lower left corner at first. The entrees are on a brown surface with scattered wheat stalks and almonds and pecan nuts. Superimposed texts: "Breakfast Pancake Breakfast/At participating restaurants," "Mon. thru Friday except holidays," and, the price.]

CLIFF
[off screen] Like Breakfast's Breakfast Pancake Breakfast for 2-99. N--you get harvest grain 'n' nut, or banana nut, or country griddle cakes with eggs, bacon, an' hash browns for just 2-99!

[Back to medium shots of the three, still at the farm. Cows are moo-ing in the background, birds twittering.]

CLIFF
[friendly] Breakfast is a, Pretty Important Meal, don't you think?

BOY
Cuz--my mom says it.. Ahh..
"Breakfast feeds the brain." [chuckles]

CLIFF
[tentative] It might be smart to have it for lunch or dinner. [logo appears in lower right corner of screen]

BOY and GIRL
[reflectively] Yeah..

BOY
[fondly jokes] Get all A's.

[CLIFF enjoys that.]
