We finally made it to the start of the great trek... Here is Tony as proof.
On our drive here in the taxi from Pamplona, the mountains along the way
looked a little intimidating. We will find out for ourselves tomorrow!!!

This donkey seems like a solution to the mountains and having to carry
our worldly belongings....  Tony thought the cost exhorbitant and said we
can do with the extra exercise .   Oh well, with the way we spoil our pets,
it would probably end up kicking us out of our bunk beds in the Refugios
and we would be carrying him...

Maureen and I at Km 1 of the El Camino, sans backpacks. Just out
for a test drive/reccc trip. No problem I figure (famous last words).

Maureen perched atop a Camino trail marker, the conch sea shell symbol.
This symbol, which Maureen has a pendant of around her neck, identifies
the authentic pilgrim from mere daytrippers (mortals) along the trail.
We will be getting our full 8 hours sleep tonight in preparation for the 26km
through the mountains we have to walk tomorrow to get to the next refugio
in Larrasona.
