Start of Day3 @ 6.15 am. A very tranquil scene, and us rearing to go.
No sign of rain thank goodness, but Camino path a little slippery.
Breakfast in Pamplona and our best of meal so far - our first hot
one in three days. Two tortilla type bun ( scrambled egg and ham like
the N. American equivalent of a Western only more flavourful and delicious)
each, plus the "cafe con leche" all for 900 pesetas.
Walking through the historic part of Pamplona. Note the banners
being hung in anticipation in of tomrorow's ) July 6 running of the
bull's festival.
Having just missed the bulls in Pamplona we were almost run over by
a flock of sheep 10km outside of Pamplona. Maureen got out of there
way just in time! There must have been about 1000 of them.
Soles on boots already starting to wear thin, so Tony had the
bright
idea of strapping them to his sandals!! Nice try, but didn't work.
Tony picking up the pace. Dry for a change, but anxiously anticpating
the mountains in the distance which will have to be crossed tomorrow
- Day 5.
The endless road to Santiago.
Outside Casa Carpentario in village of Asturain where we decided to
stay on Day 4 instead of stopping early at the "official" refugio
in
Cezar Minor. Had a room, and hot shower all to ourselves and another
great meal ( three courses plus bottle of rioja) all for 2000 pesetas
- $10
Can. Maureen was obviously quite thirsty, and ended up the evening
quite merry. Great day all round, and we did'nt get wet.
Tony looking rested, cleaned up and attempting to brush up on
his
non-existent Spanish, wondering what Day 5 will bring.
