Friday, March 2, 2001 - Arrival in Sydney
The almost-newlyweds picked us up at the airport. It was the second time I've met Susan (my penpal) but the first time I've met Mark - he seems like a true sweetie. Great choice Susan!!

Once at Susan's house, we met some more of her family and friends - I love this! It's great to finally meet people that I've heard about in our letters.
After lunch and a little nap, we headed off with Susan to share in some of her wedding fun. We went to the reception hall to help decorate, then went to see her wedding cake - it's so beautiful (unfortunately the pic didn't turn out too well).

We also went to visit some more of their friends, before heading back to Susan's mom's. The rest of the night we took it easy, then slept off our major jet lag!

Today was a great day... The newlyweds were going to open their gifts, and we were going to enjoy an Australian barbie!
It was great fun chatting with everyone - most of them seemed shocked at how many places we intended on going while we were in the land Down Under - but this was a trip of a lifetime, and we had to cram as much as we could in!
Susan and Mark got a lot of wonderful gifts, perfect to start their new life together.
After a delicious lunch, and after most of the people had left - we got some quiet time with the newlyweds before we had to head off. I am so glad we had the opportunity to share their special day, it's something I'll never forget.
It was now time for us to say our goodbye's and to thank Susan's mom for hosting us for the past couple of days. We were heading off on our travels, and the newlyweds were heading off on their honeymoon!
After being dropped off by the newlyweds, we went for a siesta in our hotel room, then headed off to the Aquarium, where we get up close and personal with the creatures we'll be scuba diving with soon enough... amazing seahorses, beautiful fish, but scary looking sharks there!
