This truly precedent-setting television series unravels one 24-hour day, with each episode covering one hour in the characters' lives told in real time.

Kiefer Sutherland stars as Jack Bauer, agent of the Los Angeles Counter Terrorism Unit.
Six years ago, Jack thwarted an assassination plot targeting Presidential nominee Senator David Palmer on the day of the California Presidential Primary; he also lost his wife at the hands of a woman he dated during his marital separation, an international spy. Four-and-a-half years ago, President Palmer called Jack back to action to track down the perpetrators behind an attempted nuclear detonation in Los Angeles. A year-and-a-half ago, Jack partnered with CTU rookie Chase Edmunds to stop a Middle American plot to release a lethal fast-spreading virus if drug lord Ramon Salazar - a man Jack spent a year undercover to capture - was not released from prison.
Now, Jack's life has settled down. New CTU Director Erin Driscoll fired him a year ago, but he's working for Secretary of Defense James Heller, and dating the beautiful Audrey Raines; Kim and Chase have moved into safety in Valencia. But when a spectacular train-wreck precipitates the kidnapping of Jack's boss to stand trial for war-crimes, Jack finds himself drawn back to the job that has already cost him so much.
