Isis

~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I awoke and realized with some confused shock that I was still alive and yet, everything seemed so dreamlike. My heart thundered heavily when I saw the fire shadows from torches bouncing off Egyptian hieroglyphics that covered the humongous stone room I was in. The room felt ancient beyond the concept of time, and yet looked as if it were built last week!

"Am I dead?" I asked out loud. I could feel my blood sticking wetly to my side where the bullet had sliced through.

"Not yet," a voice answered right away, nearly making me leap out of my trench coat. A tall, gorgeous young woman dressed as an ancient Egyptian queen stepped toward me from the shadows. She was a good six inches taller than I was, and her golden jewelry glowed as if they held their own light within.

"Who are you?" I demanded, pretending to be unimpressed.

The woman stared at me for a long moment, drawing me into her fathomless black eyes. "They call me Isis."

I gasped. "Malik's sister?" She sure didn't look like the little museum chit.

She shook her head in that calm patient way that made me feel like an idiot. "No, I am THE Isis, daughter of Ra, the goddess of young women."

"A goddess, huh?" I snickered, not able to help it. I swear, Egyptian women have the biggest imaginations.

But my grin faded instantly when she glared sharply at me, her eyes making me feel stripped to my soul, small, insignificant. "You have broken a girl's heart, Seto Kaiba from your inhumanity!"

I jumped back. I'm not used to people yelling at me like that. What am I saying? NOONE has ever yelled at me!

"Only destiny is keeping me from tossing your pathetic soul into the Abyss and allowing the monster to devour you!"

Heh? I was really scared now. This chick was more than imaginative. She was downright psychotic.

She seemed to calm down, but still glared at me like I was some kind of pervert trying to hit her up for a ride. "However, I must be lenient. For you to die would throw the entire cosmos out of balance."

"Nice to know I have such a influence in the universe," I shot back. "If you'll excuse me, I have bigger and better things to waste my time with than standing here talking to a psycho."

That obviously did not go over well for the entire room exploded into light. "Seto Kaiba!" a voice cried from the blaze that engulfed me. "Your selfish inhuman ways have been tolerated long enough! From now on, you shall see the world through the eyes of a woman and suffer the consequences of your actions!"

My body seemed to burst into flames, and I blacked out again.
