Twink's Ink

REMEMBER WHEN.....

You know it's quite exciting to look back upon the years,
And think of the inventions that have one by one appeared.

From Henry Ford's first Model "T", the telephone by Bell,
Running water in the house meant no more trips to the well.

Electric lights and streetcars and then airplanes in the sky,
That take you higher, faster now than any bird can fly.

With radio came Ma Perkins, Lum and Abner, Vic and Sade,
Motion pictures were a novelty, then "talkies" all the rage.

The atom bomb was something that we wish we could forget,
It's destruction was so awesome, memories linger with us yet.

But just when we were sure that there could be no more inventions,
Along came one more man with electronic type intentions.

He gave us television, for a while just in black and white,
That keeps us entertained, sometimes late into the night.

Menwhile there were rockets taking men way out in space,
Speeding 'round the earth at a then unheard of pace.

Computers made it possible to get them off the ground,
To put them into orbit, and then start them homeward bound.

To watch as Neil Armstrong first put foot upon the moon,
Was quite a wonder to behold, one not forgotten soon.

Yes, it's been an age of miracles, and we're not finished yet,
We've come from Wright's first bi-plane, to the supersonic jet.

With fertile minds so plentiful to envision things so bold,
Perhaps we'll do away with war and cure the common cold.
