Blackfire - Blackfire  [cd ep]
Self-released  1994
Hauntingly powerful are the only words that come to mind when I listen to this album.  Blending punk, ska, and alternative with traditional Native American music to come up with a sound like no one else.  Three Navajo siblings use the power of music to tell people how they feel and what their families have been through.  They even get some help from their father on one of the songs.  Listening to this, it is hard to believe that none of the members are over twenty-one.  The only complaint I have is that this has only five songs.  That just wasn't enough for me.  I can guarantee that this will make my top ten list for this year, as it is nothing short of absolutely spectacular.  I urge all of you to check this out, no matter how hard it is to find.  ©1995 Krusty
Blanks 77 - Killer Blanks  [cd]
Radical Records 1996
If someone were to ask me to name a current band that sounds most like the early British Oi, I would have to say Blanks 77.  The style comes shining through on this album.  But, don't assume for one minute they can't come up with their own sound.  They manage to put just enough of a twist on the old sound to be a whole new breed.  © 1996 Krusty
Blink - Cheshire Cat  [cd]
Cargo Records 1994
I hate to make comparisons when reviewing albums, but… Ever heard of NoFX?  Don't get me wrong; this is a good album, and well worth a listen.  I do, however, feel maybe they need to develop their own style a little more.  The lyrics are fun, sarcastic, and a little goofy.  But all seem to be reflecting ways of being misunderstood.  All in all, a fun album.  ©1995 Krusty
Bouncing Souls - Johnny X  [7"]
BYO Records 1995
After waiting over a year for another release from these guys, I have been fortunate enough to get a 7" featuring songs from their full-length album to be released early 1996.  I have not been let down.  Three fast paced songs that are over just a little too soon.  A great whetting of the appetite.  I can't wait for the album.  ©1995 Krusty
Bouncing Souls - Maniacal Laughter  [cd]
BYO Records 1996
Well, my wait is over.  Twelve great new songs have arrived from these guys.  Fast, fun, and full of energy.  You just don't find a lot of stuff out there like this.  Was it worth the wait?  I'm not sure.  I was expecting a little more, but this comes very close.  Now, let's see if they can deliver the same energy live.  ©1996 Krusty
