The Ramones - Adios Amigos  [cd]
RadioActive Records 1995
Can this really be it?  The final Ramones album?  It is definitely one of the best.  Going back to the raw aggressiveness of the early albums while still showing growth in both their music and lyrics.  This album features the writing debut of the newest Ramone, CJ.  Including my personal favorite, 'Scattergun'.  Not to mention, he also sings lead on four of the tracks.  Joey seems to be looking at the world around him in 'She Talks To Rainbows' as well as offering some good news in this depressing world with 'Life's A Gas', guaranteed to make you look at life just a little differently.  If that isn't enough, there are six songs co-written by the infamous Dee Dee Ramone, including 'The Crusher' from his attempt at hip-hop.  Does this mean that after 21 years of hard work the Ramones will finally get the respect they deserve in the wake of this punk rock revival?  Don't count on it.  Which is sad for an album that is 100% pure Ramones, 100% pure punk.  So, is this really the end?  'I Believe In Miracles'  ©1995 Krusty
The Ramones - Greatest Hits Live [cd]
RadioActive Records 1996
Sixteen live tracks and two new studio tracks.  This album proves that the Ramones have not slowed down as they have grown older.  In fact, they are playing faster than ever.  Let's get my only complaint out of the way first.  Yes, even being the huge Ramones fan that I am, there is one thing I don't like about this album:  the title.  It SUCKS!!  I find it hard to justify calling this album 'Greatest Hits Live' when it is missing key songs such as:  'Psycho Therapy', 'Rock 'n' Roll High School', 'Wart Hog', and even 'Pinhead' is missing.  They did pick some of the best songs off of 'Adios Amigos' and brought back a couple of classics, 'Do You Wanna Dance?' and '53rd & 3rd'.  CJ takes the mic on three tracks, including one of my favorites, 'Strength To Endure'.  As for the two studio tracks, while they are both covers, they are new to the Ramones.  First, there is the greatest tribute song ever written, Motorhead's 'R.A.M.O.N.E.S.'.  I was extremely shocked to hear Joey singing on this track.  Okay, so it makes sense as Joey is the singer, and Motorhead is one of his favorite bands, but CJ sings it live.  The other is a sweet little pop tune called 'Any Way You Want It', originally by the Dave Clark Five.  I strongly urge each and every one of you to go out there and get this as quickly as you can.  ©1996 Krusty
