Sea Monkeys - Bowery To Baghdad [7"] Vital Music Records 1996 Five songs that are over before you even realize that they began. These songs are just the right mix of everything to hook you faster than you might think. Anyone that can write a song about roaches has got to be either commended or condemned, you make the call. Great fun for everyone. ©1996 Krusty

Sex Pistols - Filthy Lucre Live [cd] Virgin Records 1996 Can we say slow? Can we say lethargic? I don't know about you, but when live versions clock in longer than original studio versions, I start to worry. I don't understand the hype. They weren't all that good the first time around. Now they just sound like pathetic, bitter old men trying to make a buck. If you must own a Pistols album, and I do, stick with the best, the only one they ever recorded, 'Never Mind The Bollocks'. Don't feed their greed by purchasing this crap. I sure as hell didn't. ©1996 Krusty

Sloppy Seconds - Knock Yer Block Off [cs] Taang! Records 1993 This is an album not to take seriously. Fast, catchy punk tunes positively dripping with sarcasm. This is an album I wouldn't mind getting stuck in my stereo. Where else are you going to find songs about everything from your sister to the neighborhood den mother? Even the real heroes: Bruce Lee, David Carradine, and Evil Knievel. ©1995 Krusty

Snap-Her - It Smells, It Burns, It Stings… [cd] New Red Archives 1996 This all girl band could give any of the old UK punk bands a run for their money. Classic British sound with a touch of The Plasmatics, The Loudmouths, and even Suzy Quattro thrown in for good measure. Fast and furious with sixteen songs in twenty-six minutes. You can't help but get hooked. ©1996 Krusty

Stop - Never [cd] Smut Pedlurz 1995 From the opening chord of 'Jerk' to the ending chord of "Ballad Of Mickey Leigh", this album is one sonic barrage of sound after another. If you like punk, this album's got it. If you like hard rock, this album's got it. If you like songs without words (I know they are called instrumentals), this album's got it. If you like ballads, this album's even got them, too. There is nothing that this album does not have. One could not even begin to categorize this album. It pushes the meaning of diversity to the limit. There was not one song on here that I did not like. The styles cover such a wide range of genres that there is a song for almost every mood or emotion known to man. There are covers of 'Outsider' (Ramones) and 'Ring Of Fire'. 'Outsider' was a little hard to listen to the first time, since I am such a die-hard Ramones fan, but I like it. Hearing 'Don't Be So Strange' on here was kind of a nice surprise. Dick Manitoba co-wrote and sings 'Cake And Eat It'. The "Sibling Rivalry" seven inch has a notation that says to check out Mickey's new band "Stop". That was about two years ago. Well, I tried, but never saw any sign of it. Then in January, I heard about it, and I had to have it. You might think that all these albums I review just show up in my mailbox. Well, they don't. My search began. No record stores in town had ever heard of it. I had no idea who the record label or distributor was, so that didn't help. I finally resorted to asking Alternative Tentacles, since they did the seven-inch. They didn't know either. But, they did have a great idea. They got me in touch with Mickey Leigh himself. He then got me in touch with the record label. After two and a half months, my search was over. Now all I had to do was wait for it to get here. Was it worth the trouble? FUCK YES!!! To put it another way, I liked it so much that by the time I went to bed the day I got it, I knew every word to every song. If you only buy one album this year, I strongly suggest that it be this one. ©1995 Krusty
Swingin' Utters - A Juvenile Product Of The Working Class [cd] Fat Wreck Chords 1996 What can be said? It's the Swingin' Utters. More catchy pop punk. Fast, fun, and full of energy. I don't see how anyone can go wrong with this album. I could not find one song that I did not like. They are short, but not too short. Just the way I like 'em. ©1996 Krusty
