Beat Happy1 Music  1995
I will be the first to admit that I don't know a lot about ska.  And when I do decide to listen to it, I am very picky about it.  That is why I am very leery of ska comps, since I will probably only like one or two songs.  This one proved to be a little different.  There are only four ands on this seven inch:  Mustard Plug, Punch the Clown, The Independents, and Spies On Sabbatical.  I actually liked them all.  They were all a little different from each other, but each good in their own right.  ©1995 Krusty
Punk Bites  [cd]
Fearless Records 1996
Enclosed in this package are twenty-eight great punk songs by some of the best underground bands.  The best thing about this is that only seven of them are previously released.  Bands range from Vandals to D.I., Ignite to Fury 66, and Schleprock to Hi-Standard.  All in all, this is a great album.  It does get kinda long at times, but still well worth your time.  ©1996 Krusty
Punk Dwellings:  New York's Finest Vol. 1  [cd]
Dwell Records 1996
This is definitely a most interesting compilation.  Twelve bands pump out two songs each, one original and one cover.  There are some totally rockin' bands on here including L.E.S. Stitches, Latex Generation, electric Frankenstien, and The Wretched Ones, among others.  This is definitely worth more than just a listen.  ©1996 Krusty
Punk Rock Jukebox  [cd]
Blackout!/CherryDisc 1995
This is an album that contains a lot of today's more popular independent punk bands covering classic punk songs.  The thing that I find most refreshing about this album, is that the songs are done not always the first one that you would think of when you hear the name of the original band.  It is definitely about time an album like this was done.  I was also pleased that the liner notes included the bands' reasons for choosing the song that they did.  It lets you know a little bit about the bands.  This is definitely one of the more enjoyable albums of this year.  I would highly suggest that you check this album out.  ©1995 Krusty
Punk Sucks  [cd]
Liberation Records 1995
There are thirty bands on this thing, so I am sure you will find at least one that you will like.  My personal favorites include:  No Use For A Name, Voodoo Glow Skulls, 88 Fingers Louie, Good Riddance, Jugheads Revenge, Bouncing Souls, and Boris The Sprinkler.  All in all, I would say that for an idea of what the independent music scene is all about, this is a great start.  Most of these bands have been around for years, and some are starting to get some recognition.  I am glad some people are still doing things like this themselves.  D.I.Y. has always turned out some of the best punk rock that ever existed.  ©1995 Krusty
