Have you ever had a dream that felt so real, and it was so good, you didn't want to wake up? Well, I did. Little did I realize that the day would come and I would feel this way. After five, very long years of uncertainty and turmoil, Pat and I *celebrated* 25 years of marriage.
I will share with you the day as best I can with pictures and words.
When we first drove up to the Four Seasons Olympic Hotel in downtown Seattle, the Bell Captain greeted our car and welcomed us to their establishment. He enquired about our drive, and wanted to know if we needed any help. All that within the first 5 minutes! As Pat checked in, he was greeted warmly and then told at the desk that since it was our 25th anniversary, they were upgrading us to a suite. Pat and I traveled up the elevator to our room and upon opening the door we both gasped in shock. Here was this GORGEOUS room, that was bigger than my first apartment!! Looking to our left was a dressing area with a chest of drawers and a wall full of closet.
We unpacked our bags and began exploring. (click on the pictures, or keep reading)

Once, again the girls continued with their magic, but would you believe it, ANOTHER knock on the door! This time, Rachelle let him in. It was a bell hop with a complimentary bottle of champagne, two fluted glasses and a box of chocolates accompanied by a note from the hotel thanking us for celebrating with them! I'm beginning to feel like royalty, here!
We thanked the girls and wobbled back to get dressed, our legs all rubbery and loose. Looking at our clock, we realized all of a sudden, it was time to get ready for dinner! The Georgian Room was beautifully lit with candles and soft lighting and lush greenery caressing the room. We were greeted by the maitre'd who wished us a happy 25th anniversary (seems like everyone knew) and asked if we wanted a center table or off to the side. I requested off to the side and he agreed that more could be seen from that viewpoint.*grin* |
Turning around, we saw a hallway that went for ever! Here, we found a powderoom, a shower stall (big enough for FOUR, I think!) a jacuzzi tub and a huge bathroom. There was a wall full of towels all fluffy and white. None of that miserly 2 towels a day thing you see in other hotels. The powderoom had a toilet and a bidet. But you know, I was too chicken to try the bidet! hehehehe! Maybe next time (if there IS one).
After exploring and fiddling with everything in the bathroom we went towards the sitting room. As you enter, you see the sofa on the right and the bed on the left. Then there was desk along the forewall and a television on the aft. So tastefully decorated and huge windows to let in all this sunlight. It was thrilling, to say the least. After unwinding, I realized I had forgotten to eat, and our dinner reservations weren't until 8pm that night. So we ordered room service! Just like the movies, the bell hop brings in this wheeled table with a linen tablecloth and settings for two. He sets up all the things we need and wishes us a good day and he's gone. The chicken salad sandwiches were delicious and the best french fries I've ever had. |
We ordered Caesar salad and New York steak and even had the Grand Marnier souffle for dessert. *yum* Piping hot from the oven, I gently blew on the spoon..... only to blow all the powdered sugar on Pat's dark suit!! EEK! Then, the waiter came out with a plate with chocolates and the words Happy 25th Anniversary written on it. I thought, "How interesting... do they have plates with that on them, especially for anniversaries?" and touched the dish..EEK! I smudged the writing! It had been written with chocolate! Oh well, we shared the treats and made our way back to our room, floating on good food, good drink and good wishes. The next morning, another knock at the door produced our breakfast. Room service is so wonderful! Eggs, hot chocolate, toast, bacon, ham and hashbrowns served our needs in style. All too soon it was time to pack to go home. We took all the pretty soaps and lotions and leftover champagne home with us to continue the celebration in the days to come. Thank you for letting me share this with you. *HUGS* |
We decided to explore the hotel before our masseusses came to our room, so back down the elevator and onto the mezzanine floor we went. Shops with clothing, shops with artwork and shops with trinkets met our search. The artwork was handblown glass and later we saw that it was used in the Georgian Room for side plates and candle holders. It was getting near our appointment time, so we went back to the room, and soon after came a knock at the door. It was maid service (3 of them) coming in to turn down the bed and fix up the bathroom stuff! They flurried in and out, quickly, when another knock came at the door. It was the masseusses. Rachelle and Megan set up their tables and explained how it was going to work. They went to wash their hands and we disrobed (got naked!) and covered up with the towels on the tables. What a wonderful hour! During the midst of this massage, another knock came at the door. This time it was the house maintainance engineer. Pat had asked a question about the jacuzzi dials, and the maid sent him up to help us out. He was asked to return in an hour, since we were still flat out on those tables, naked as jaybirds!
