[seach story] [hatching] [weyrling] [adult] {Ryslen Weyr}
Some
say your life can change in one unexpected and momentious event. Well,
Tervari's sure had. One day out in the cove as he had done most days of
his life and an unexpected threadfall had changed his life forevever.
His
first few days at the Weyr he spent in sickness. Tervari supposed spending
a few hours out in the ocean in your clothing, then going between could
do that to you. He slept most of the time, dreaming delirious dreams of
dragons and waves and silver threads, and when he woke he felt as if he
were at the Weyr in only a dream. But it was not a dream. Blurred as the
details of his adventure were, the thrill of riding dragon back was always
fresh on Tervari's mind. Never would he forget such a thing, and with that
on his mind it was easy to beleive that he was really a candidate at Ryslen
Weyr.
As the
days wore on and more candidates for the three green clutches came in slowly,
Tervari got better. He enjoyed meeting each of the other candidates when
they arrived, he had been the very first on there! Soon, they would
be his fellow dragonriders. It was a good thought.
Then
one day Tervari woke from his now not so delirous dreams to a day that
felt... different. Later, S'yn, the brownrider who had become Tervari's
friend ushered Tervari to the sands where the three greens and their eggs
lay. A few other candidates and a small crowd had begun to gather. This
was it!
"I
wish you luck." Sy'n said. "Why, I suspect in a turn's time you'll be fighting
thread with me and Onaleth."
"I
hope so." Tervari replied, eyes glued to the now-rocking eggs.
Good
luck my friend. A voice spoke in his
head. Tervari jumped and look at the brown Onaleth, the first dragon he
had ridden. It was the first time the brown had spoken out loud to him.
He reached up to pat the brown's eye ridges fondly.
"Thank
you."
They
were distracted from further comment as the first egg cracked open, revealing
a brillaint blue.
"We'd
better get to the stands, no good for us to be out here!" With a wink,
S'yn and Onaleth scurried away from the sands. Tervari turned to the blue,
who had run to Tarillin. Next to hatch was a brown. Tervari looked
at him hopefully for a second, but a second only. This was not his dragon.
The brown went to Gidin.
Next
was a very special looking dragon, black and blue in color. Tervari gasped.
He had seen very few dragons like that one, they only existed at Ryslen
weyr. It was amasing to see a hatchling one up close.
The
next egg shattered with authoriy, and drew a loud reaction. There in all
his glory stood a little light dragon. This was expected, since one of
the clutches had been sired by a light-blue dragon. And Tervari knew, in
that moment of glory for the little dragon. He knew. Brilliant white and
vivid blue like whitecaps on waves, he moved with a fluid grace right up
to Tervari.
"Serianth."
T'vari said, greeting his friend forever. A rare light blue dragon, blue
and white like the sea T'vari had lived on so long, Serianth was his friend,
his defender, his compainion forever.
