Twisted Faith

I was looking forward to this set as I had not seen Twisted Faith perform a proper set with their regular lineup, although I had seen them twice (once of which I played guitar for them for a few songs so I couldn’t hear the overall sound) and once again with a different drummer as Bryce was on holidays. I had quite liked these sets as they were quite fun, with lots of simple riffs and stuff to bounce around to with a few entertaining covers thrown in.
This time they
opened with an instrumental of an original song, Fintona Market. It was a noisy, messy grungy affair, which
was a nice little pointer towards the bands style. They then continued to play 7 more songs, some which
unfortunately were a little sloppy but most of which were quite high
quality. In particular their
Silverchair (please don’t shoot me, I like them) cover, Freak was very
good in my opinion, being a song which their sound suits very well. And I don’t think anyone disliked their Another
One Bites the Dust/ Another Brick in the Wall medley! There were a few downers to this set, most
notably their new vocalist’s lack of stage presence. He has a good voice, but did not project it much and his stage
act is very boring (stand in the one spot and do nothing). The overall sound was slightly dodgy at
times also, although this was no fault of the band’s but still decreased the
quality of the performance. Overall, it
just seemed to be a good grunge band on a bad night, but they still managed to
entertain!
