Twisted Faith
@ Omagh Methodist Youth Club
I was lucky enough to be a
"roadie" for the Faith, or Inert Elements, as they were then. As this
was their first gig they were really confident and had an especially punk style
look for this gig, (look at the photos on the site).
The Faith played three songs: "Freak on a Leash" by Korn,
"Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana and their own song, "Ayem
Spechal". For their first gig, the band played with confidence and style,
although I could see that a lot of work was needed to improve this young band.
In my opinion, "Smells Like…" was the highlight of the evening, while
"Freak on a Leash" was slightly disappointing. This was not helped by
the fact that the acoustics in the hall were atrocious and there was a pitiful
crowd at the event.
Inertia also did not help – they attempted to cut off the Faith during
"Smells Like…". I feel they may have been the more experienced band,
but this has changed since the more recent Faith gigs.
Overall, I feel a dedicated lead vocalist was a sensible addition to the band,
as this gives Waldo more opportunity to show his full potential in lead. This
gig was a tough debut for the new band, but I’m sure it was welcome experience
and showed me how much potential the band have.
