Twisted Faith
@ Saint Colombus' Hall
Kicking off with
"Zombie" by The Cranberries, the band showed that they were no joke.
The singing was melodic, if a little quiet, the guitars were impressive and the
drumming was solid. Ande seemed a bit nervous on the bass though.
The cover of
"Outside" by Staind had to be the song of the night. It had the crowd
waving their hands in the air and singing along. The guitar solo was especially
good.
The song most in need of
improvement was "Warning" by Green Day. It seemed that something was
out of tune, and this put a lot of the audience off. (Waldo: We discovered that
the chords Neal was using were wrong. When we learned the song we were new to
music, and we hadn't thought about it since!) Once again, "Pop Is A
Denial" was the original song that stole the show. It is fast becoming a
cult favourite in the fan base.
A few factors detracted
from the show. The youth club at Saint Colombus’ finished soon after Twisted
Faith came on, and many had to leave then, damaging the band's morale. Also,
the crowd were perhaps restless after already sitting through an hour and a
half of support bands. At 10 o' clock, the band were informed they would have
to get off soon, only half way through their set.
It was a good performance
all round, and with better organisation, it could have been a great
performance.
