The Robbinsville Twisters, U13 girls travel team had a great outing this weekend; placing second in a field of six teams at West Windsor-Plainsboro's   Sunburst tournament at Mercer County Park. Twisters came to play, outscoring their opponents 8 to 4.  Handily winning the first two games; beating Hopewell Heat 3 to 1 and Edison United Firecrackers 4 to 1, the team lost to Watchung Hills Phoenix in a close 2 to 1 third game.  The final game positioned the two best teams to determine the winner. Robbinsville needed a win for first place; a tie would mean second place. Highlights of the tournament, in addition to Christine Levering scoring seven goals in a team effort (no less than five different players assisting), included the defense and strong play of goalies Hannah Binder and Tori Binz.  In game one, the first of Christine Levering's hat tricks, she received assists from Allison Whitty (1 minute into the tournament), from Jenna Garofalo and from Madhura Berman.  In the second game, Christine had another hat trick, first scoring with a header off an excellent placed corner kick from Nicki Ann Francisco, next scoring with a through ball placed by Dina Cifelli, and finally with a solo

defensive thriller; the team posted a shutout but couldn't find the back of Hunterdon's United Riptide goal.  The final 0 v 0 secured the team's
second place berth.

The strong play of midfielders Kristin Thomas, Ali Valentin, Agata Kowalski, Lauren Schmid, Gabrielle Lipsack, Courtney Levering and Jenna
Garofalo kept the ball at the front of the line for forwards Kristen Keegan, Madhura Berman, and Allison Whitty.  Defense allowed only four
goals, with good defensive movement by stopper Nicki Ann Francisco, sweeper Taylor Paglione as well as fullbacks Noelle Fahey, Dina Cifelli
and Valerie Suto. Overall, the Twisters enjoyed their Sunburst outing while playing some of the state's best soccer competitors.
