Who is the band Greyfield? Well they're an upcoming band from Jacksonville FL, USA. Here's are interview with we did with them!! First of all why don't you introduce us to all the members and what there purpose in the band is? Chris - vocals & bass Allan - guitar & vocals Matt - guitar Mike - drums Jon - Official Merch Guy How did ya come up with your band name? Matt - Allan was at work one day and saw a street called "Cinnamon Greyfield St" and decided that 'Greyfield' would sound cool, and it stuck. Allan - I actually named the band from a street called Cinnamon Greyfield St. I figured I would ditch the 'Cinnamon' and keep Greyfield. What are all your feelings on how people are categorizing different punk bands, now a days? Matt - I don't really care, I feel that people who fight about what music is what are just wasting their time. I like the music that I like, I don't worry about what genre it is. Allan - I think it's good, as a wide range of music is always good. It's just the evolution of the type of music into everything. If someone had to 'categorize' us though, I would definitely say we are Pop Punk more than any other type of punk. We like to classify ourselves as a Pop Rock band though, just so we don't get put into the same category as say, Sum 41 or Blink 182. Although I love both of those bands, they sound completely different to us. But we don't mind being called pop punk. Not at all, hehe. What is your defination on what punk is? Matt - don't know what punk means anymore. There are the people that say it's a lifestyle, then there's the people that say it's just a music. I could really care less... Allan - Hmm, well mine's probably different from the other guys cause I was brought up on punk since I was born, my Mom was a little punk rocker. So I grew up listening to the Police, the Sex Pistols, the Clash, you name it. But I really only gathered that punk was a type of music, I understand that it is a way of living (I experienced the 'punk' way of living while I was in Against All Authority) and I really didn't like some of the attitudes and a lot of the people associated with 'real punk rock'. In a scene where everybody is supposed to be 'so open minded', everybody is a hypocrite. Every single 'real' punk rocker out there (that I've ever met) were the most closed minded compared to anybody else. (i.e., Ohhhhh you don't have a Crass tattoo...you aren't punk rock; look at you, eating meat! you aren't punk!, etc., etc.) So my definition of punk? A great style of music. What bands have influence you? Matt - I grew up listening to a lot of the same bands my brother did, 80s hair bands. That's when I decided I wanted to be in a band all my life. So I guess a lot of my influence comes from Poison and Motley Crue and bands like that. I listened to a lot of 7 Seconds, Bad Religion, NOFX, Rancid, stuff like that way back when I started playing guitar, and they've kinda helped, too. Allan - the Police, Sting, 311, Sublime, The Used, Starting Line, New Found Glory, Blink 182, Sum 41, Zebrahead, Reel Big Fish, Eminem, Peter Gabriel, Ben Folds, Simple Plan, Propagandhi, Kings of Convenience, Buju Banton, Don't Look Down, Yellowcard, Good Charlotte, Andrew WK, Transplants, Box Car Racer, Inspection 12, Boy Sets Fire, Brand New, Cue Estey, D12, Dashboard Confessional, Dismemberment Plan, Eve 6, Fenix*TX, Home Grown, Goldfinger, No Doubt, Jimmy Eats World, Outkast, Ludacris, Snoop Dog, Less Than Jake, Busta Rhymes, Linkin Park, Louder Milk, Justin Timberlake, Mandy Moore, Off By One, Puya, Refused, Strontium 90, Saves the Day, Sugarcult, Text, the Cars, the Exit, Weakerthans, Thrice & Unwritten Law Chris - New Found Glory, the Doors, Tenacious D, Blink 182, Zebrahead, The Starting Line, All-American Rejects, Saves the Day, ACDC, Boston, Guns-N-Roses, Peter Frampton, the Wonders, Eminem, P.
