Here is an interview from an great band from London Ontario...make sure to check them out!!!! What's a quick introduction to your band? Dale: Unfortunately there is no quick intro with this band. It is the end result of so many different factors; personal and political. So what we have forged now is a group of seven different individuals with completely different tastes in everything from music to food to spiritual beliefs, who have come together to create something we all love and want to do for as long as we can. Kreg: The music itself is high energy, punk rock mixed with danceable ska and lyrics that really mean something to us. What are all your feelings on how people are categorizing different music, lately? Dale: It doesn't have to be detrimental. Categories can be good, just don't expect them to remain stagnant. Kreg: People like to categorize it is what they do. Many people feel that if you don't categorize it, it is difficult to understand it. We are not afraid of it and we will never be limited to whatever category we end up in. What bands have influenced you? Kreg: The top bands that influence the band as a whole are Bad Religion and Propagandi but there are so many others in and outside of punk rock. What inspires your songs? Dale: Songs are usually pretty immediate. It something angers one of us enough to become a song it is usually done on the same day. Most of our songs some out of one sitting and are fine tuned over time. Kreg: As a band it is the desire to create music with a message that is right - that's honest. Not necessarily a political message one way. We are not pretending to be anything. What is the best concert you have been too? Dale: Mine was Millencolin at the El Mocombo in Toronto with X-Large. They were just getting big and it was insane. Kreg: Snowjam with AFI, Good Riddance, Ensign, Planet Smashers, Chixdiggit. It was crazy. You guys put a charity show on every year in London. What made you decide to do this and when is the next one?. Dale: The idea for a large show was pitched to us by Mike Sloan from Ruth's Hat. Then we had the idea to give away the money to charity. So it was a combined effort. We continue to do it for many reasons, it is so successful, it brings London bands together and it is our way of helping the community. Kreg: We do it because it is awesome to get people together for a cause every year. We have seen the benefit of doing ti so many years in a row it would almost be stupid not to do it. If you were locked in a extremely small room for eternity and all you could hear playing over and over was that Theory of a Deadhorse song. The only thing in the room you and a brick? Would u smash yourself to Death with it? Dale: I absolutely never listen to the radio, so I have never heard the song. I love my stereo. What are some new bands you would recommend people to listen too or some local bands that you think people should listen too? Dale: I think everyone who loves music should take a good long look into their own local scene and give it respect. You will be surprised at what you may find. For me right now Warsawpack, our label mates Joule and if you live in the Toronto area although they are long since dead make sure to look up all the old Marylins Vitamins stuff. Kreg: Belevedere, Warsawpack and Kittie. |
