Count The Stars
Here's an interview we did with a new good punk band called Count the Stars!

First of all why don't you introduce us to all the members and what there purpose in the band is?

Hey, we're COUNT THE STARS, which you probably already knew, I'm Chris and I sing and play guitar, I'm Adam I play guitar when my gear works, I'm Dave and I play drums and the cell phone, I'm Clarke I play bass sometimes.

How did ya come up with your band name?

Chris: We used to have this song that we wrote in a previous band that some of the group was in called Count the Stars, we liked the title and i think you can probably figure out the rest.

Adam: Pretty cheesy, story.

What are all your feelings on how people are categorizing different punk bands, now a days?

Dave: I think it sometimes makes it tough for kids to get into alot of bands because they get caught up in one subcategory and have a rough time breaking out of that mold, its easier to be objective listeners when everything is in more of a broad category.

Chris: I agree with Dave to some extent but it is kind of a double edged sword when you think about it, when you are subcategorized its sometimes easier for bands to build a loyal fan base when they tour.

What is your defination on what punk is?

Chris: Punk is not the way you dress or act, its a subculture built around free thinking individuals brought together by a music scene. Sometimes its radical, sometimes not; but always about freedom of expression. It really is a state of mind not your uniform.

What bands have influenced you?

Chris: Alot of bads have had an impact on our musical style, there are just so many, I am a big fan of the Smashing Pumpkins, Green Day, Saves the Day, Elliot Smith.

Dave: I have been influenced by so many differet artists from Pink Floyd to Shai Halud to Cave In, broad interests make for an original style.

Adam: I love Van Halen and Scissorfight.

Clarke:
I am a big Who fan and many of my bass playing techniques come from their music.

What do you think is the most diffcult part trying to do the whole band thing? and getting into the bussiness?

Chris: I sometimes think the most difficult part about doing the "band thing" is being away on tour for a long time and not being able to see your closest friends and family alot, but then i realized that i really dont have these things so I guess it's not that hard.

Adam: Not getting alone time in the van is pretty rough (thats grody)

Dave: Getting into the business is tough if you don't work hard, it can be very frustrating sometimes but you have to perservere and at some point you will prevail ad reach your goals.

Where can people find your music?

Dave: We just finished recording a record called "Never Be Taken Alive" ad it will be available worldwide in almost all record stores February 25th 2003.

Clarke: You ca also find our music when it comes to your town, we post all our tour dates on our webbsite so they can easily be checked.
If you had to describe your live show, what 2 words would you use?

Adam: Eighties Hair-Metal

Clarke: Can you hyphenate Hair-Metal?

One final question, What are some random facts about you guys?

Chris: No lie, Dave has me tatoo'd on his right ass cheek, I am not kidding, ask him.

Dave:
He is not lying. oh yeah Clarke is attractive.

Clarke: *Blush* I love you Dave.
