Here's an interview we did with an Awesome band out of the Toronto area. Hope ya enjoy! First of all why don't you introduce us to all the members and what there purpose in the band is? Well hello there, my name's Italo, I take care of one of the guitars and vocals (the lower pitched ones, or the ones that have "the fake punk raspy voice" as Matt likes to call it...*shakes fist*) then there is Matt, between me and him we take care of the genius music writing, he also plays guitar and does the squeaky..err..I mean...higher vocals. He's usually the one that will do most of the talking up on stage. Then there's jack, he's the quiet one in the band i guess, he takes care of dropping the basslines and head of the forever comes crashing transportation department (or you can say he's the one that drives our fat lazy asses around)...Then last but not least, there is Brad, although he may look like an average white guy he is in fact...no wait, yeah he's an average white guy, but he's a wicked drummer, and along with matt they co-produce our website (www.forevercomescrashing.com) How did ya come up with your band name? Hmm, well most people think that we got it from a converge album, thats actually not true, we actually found out about them about a year after the name came along, its open to interpretation i guess, if you dont like it, you can talk to Matt about it, its all his fault *points* What are all your feelings on how people are categorizing different punk bands, now a days? Punk has changed a lot over the years, I sorta just think about it this way, if Joey Ramone would've liked it, its probably punk...I think now-a-days its pretty gutsy to call yourself a punk band, you're leaving yourself open to a good ass kicking by people that call themselves punk. I'm actually just rambling right now, I personally dont think of bands as "punk" or "not punk" I just listen for what i like...I think if other people try that out, they may actually enjoy more great music out there. What is your defination on what punk is? Hmm, I always believed that punk was about unity and about freedom of speech. I dont know how true that is in modern day, its sad but true, but it seems like punk is becoming more about accusing someone of NOT being punk than what its original intentions were. What i specially dislike is when people around my age(late teens, early twenties) make fun of the younger kids that go to shows. I hope they start realizing that without those young kids, our scene would become old and stale...anyways I'm rambling, but i thought i'd put in my 2 cents. What bands have influenced you? As for myself and Matt, we'd have to say Green day, NOFX and the Ataris are our main influences. I know Brad listens to a lot of Primus and stuff like that and widely influenced by Les Claypool. As for Jack, he listens to a lot of stuff like saves the day, taking back sunday, boys night out and stuff like that. What do you think is the most diffcult part trying to do the whole band thing? and getting into the business? I think what's harder for us is distance, although its not really an issue most of the time it can get in the way. Myself and Brad both live in Toronto (but on opposite sides), Matt lives in pickering, and Jack lives in Richmond Hill, so that can get hard sometimes. Hmm, I think if you think of music as a "business", you shouldn't be playing music in the first place, you shouldn't be in it for the money...You should be in in for the chicks and the random sex...haha, just kidding, but really one should be themselves, and hmm, not think of it as a business, if someone wants to pay you for doing what you love, think of it as a "paying hobby." |
