Red Chester
Who is Red Chester, well read on to find out!
First of all why don't you introduce us to all the members and what there purpose in the band is?
OK....Bryan Morton...he's 17 and plays bass....Dan Buchanan is 20 and he plays guitar and does vocals....and I'm Matt Swain....the young'n..I'm 15, and I play the drums :)

How did ya come up with your band name?

Dan - Well, we were sitting in Matt's basement desperately trying to think of a name, the other guys were thinking "Chester" but i definitely didn't want our band to be called just "Chester" and I'm sure they didnt either, it needed something else, and my favorite color is red and blue, more so red, so it just popped in there, "Hey guys what about RED CHESTER?" Bryan instantly loved it, Matt hated it, we told him to deal with it, and it grew on him and the name is spreading pretty well so far....

Matt - We were at my house thinking of names....or eating or somthing when my cat Chester jumped on Dan's lap. Dan just got new shoes that were red, so we called the band Red Chester....

Bryan - Well basically what Dan and Matt said. Coming up with a name is so hard now a days, cause you want something really catchy, origonal, and also have it fit your band. Try spending 2 months thing of a name every day and never getting anywhere. Youll pic the first thing that fits all those catagories. I've been through that about 6 times before with old bands.

What are all your feelings on how people are categorizing different punk bands, now a days?

Dan - I think some people can be pretty annoying, the ones that say there is no such thing as pop punk, that's bullshit. Pop means POPular, catchy, fun and punk means, well see the next question. But there is pop punk, street punk, horror punk, ska punk, metal punk, theres so many different styles of punk, and im down for all kinds, and i embrace all kinds, yeah i like the poppy kind the best, but i also have a respect for all types of punk, and all types of music in general.

Matt - People can say what they want....We put the music out there, and if you want to say were are Hardcore rap, or Pop music....then go ahead lol

Bryan - Well i dont really care about it. I just hope in the future people still like punk and our kind of music in general. It always scares me to think about the future of music and will there be a place for us still.

What is your defination on what punk is?

Dan - Haha, you might as well ask me to define "normal" or something. Well, punk, to me, and to others, is simply a bunch of kids with instruments and problems, it is a energetic, fun and fast music, its a bunch of kids, being THEMSELVES, and not worrying about the word "POSER" and other petty shit like that.. I believe that whatever makes you happy and comfortable is what you should do, and who is anyone to call someone else a "poser". Be yourself, play your instrument, rock out doing it, start some pits, scream or sing, get on the radio or mtv, or don't, try not to judge other people in a negative way....thats punk.

Matt - Punk is really anything that gives someone a raised eyebrow. something thats new or crazy. Dashboard Confessional....that dude is punk.....going out on stage with a stool, opening for bands like Snapcase. Punk isn't just mohawks and leather jackets, or an image thing.

Bryan - I'm really not sure about what it is. It fits somewhere in between classic rock and hardchore metal for me. Its more about having fun, and celebrating being young for me.

What bands have influence you?

Dan - Well, when i list these bands i speak on behalf of my band mates too. For example, a kick ass band that my band mates listen to that i havent really listened to that much is Glassjaw, and its not really our g! enre, but just to say our influences go pretty far, the ones closest to home might be New Found Glory, Sum 41, Green Day or Offspring, but can stretch as far as Glassjaw, Chaimara, Smashing Pumpkins, 40 Below SUmmer, and basically, among the three of us, we all like a huge variety of music.....

Matt - I have a wide wide wide range of music.....I love everything out there....my favorite bands now are Glassjaw, Rufio, Chimaira, Allister.........A teens....
What do you think is the most diffcult part trying to do the whole band
thing? and getting into the bussiness?
I love my band. It work, but more fun. the hardest part is probably lugging my shit in and out of places.....I hate that!

Bryan- I was influenced to want to have a band when i was 4 and i watched my Dad's, Bruce Springsteen video Anthology. The bands i like to listen to the most are New Found Glory, Simple Plan, Allister, Blink 182, Sum 41, Good Charlotte and Brand New. You could say that I only listen pop punk, but I enjoy it because it puts me in a really good mood. I like a lot of hard stuff too.
