When you get to where 418 takes a sharp turn to the right, south, Keep Straight on Claiborne Rd., folloing the levee.
Back near the La.15 intersection was this sign. Heed its warning. The road over the levee leads to the Angola Prison Ferry. Not a ride to take.
I wonder, can it be taken when the Rodeo is on?
This sign points to a classic Louisiana fishing spot.
I topped the levee back in February of 2003 to see "the reason for the levee" That is Mississippi River water out there where it is not suppose to be. Or maybe, where it's suppose to be but the Corps says, "no" for now.
Headed down the other side of the levee,  Old River Landing architecture is there awaiting. The trailor was not raised for "the view".
And there's the big oxbow lake. Riccourci Old River..
This is one of my favorite pictures which captures the feeling of "Following the Levee Riding". Can you see why I look for these roads?
