The big bend of the Quachita River. This is looking north. The Black awaits its flow to the east.

John's home in Enterprise?
Cute Post Office in Enterprise
I would be surprised if it hadn't been built by John, the Bowie guy. It has all his trademarks. You'll see.
I rode a ways out of Enterprise, at least it seemed a ways, and, then, the sign to the ferry and Highway 559 appeared. My timing was perfect. Enjoy the action, as I did. It loads slowly on dial up, so, give it a little time. It will recross the river several times so you can really get the full effect.
Wasn't that great. Now it's our turn. These are scenes of the crossing.
Our ship, The Cooper
The other passenger.
I stopped on the bank and reflected back on my departing ship. I looked at the map and realized I had to go back across. 559 would take me way to far north. So, I waited, just me. She came back across to fetch me. The round trip would cost a dollar.
This was first class.
Who Me? The only way to beat this is to cross it on a bike, on foot or bicycle.
I felt like I had done it in grand style. Don't you think? Now if I could just find the Relay Station.
I asked the lady ferry person and she said that I'd just come from it. I thought, oh no, I was there and now I'm here.
"No," she said, "where you originally came from." It is at the corner of 559 and 124.
Pictures are on the next page.
