It was coming. |
The tug boat is connected to the barge at a point where it pivots so that the vehicle exits forward, as it had gotten onto the ferry, and the tug is always going forward, except when it first takes off, then it pivots. What happens if the pivot breaks? I guess there were some safety cables. I can't see being adrift on this river. I'm glad I am just now thinking about this. |

Lock onto the Scroll and jerk it down fast and you can see the ferry land like in the movies. Well, I wanted to remember this moment. And, I want you to savour it as I did. Don't leave. There is a serious statement at the end of this procedure. |
The crossing was great. The captain knew his stuff. He hit the shore perfectly. Now, look carefully. At the end of each trip, both ways, a crewman gets down from the ferry and rakes the shell up against the ramp so you will not suffer a bump entering or exiting the ferry. What service. Only in Louisiana can you expect to be pampoured in such a fasion. Won't happen in New York. Of course, their landings don't have shell, I guess. Now, it was my turn. I was nervous, to say the least. I was also the only one. Would they leave with just me, or stay the night until some other vehicle came? More suspence. |
