Episode 3
Queen Alice offers Reid, Farah, Keele and Melody a free stay in one of the island's hotels for a few days so that they can rest and prepare to continue on their journey. Reid wants to relax for a week and have a good meal, but Farah insists that they must leave tomorrow and begins to restock their supplies and equipment. Reid and Keele go off to eat anyway and Farah gets...um...really mad. They find Marron in the dining room and Marron insults Farah some more, but before she can beat up anyone the lights go out and Colina the traveling musician appears on the stage, singing and playing the mandolin for the amusement of the diners. She's awful. Really bad.
Let's leave it at that. Spotting Reid in the crowd, she runs over to say hi and promptly trips, braining Reid with the mandolin in the process.
After their shortened meal Reid goes shopping for Farah. He's a little clueless about what to buy, but (un)luckily he runs into Honey the salesgirl. Honey is always on the lookout for a deal and proceeds to sell him all manner of crazy items because he just can't say no.
      Farah is not pleased.
Worried that Keele might do the same thing, she goes looking for him and finds him in the library, where he tells her that he wants to read every book there before they leave.
Once again, Farah is not pleased. She decides to do all the shopping herself and enlists Melody to help.
Melody, however, find Colina sitting in a tree and makes friends with her. Soon the two are chatting and relaxing instead of shopping. They go swimming and slowly become best friends - after all, they're both young, innocent, clueless and clumsy as hell. They have a lot in common. |^_^|
Keele and Reid wander over to the pool and sit on the edge, enjoying the day, Keele with his nose in a book as usual. Farah finds them all enjoying themselves and yells at them, telling them to help her gather supplies. She turns to Colina and tells her, "Stop bothering us!"
Colina, who is after all very impressionable, bursts into tears and runs away. Farah has once again screwed everything up. Now clouds are gathering, blotting out the sun, and people are moving inside. Pearl's famous good weather is interrupted once a year by a violent typhoon, and it looks like one's headed their way
Back in the hotel, they're nailing boards across the windows. People from the houses around are retreating behind the hotel's strong walls. But Claudia soon discovers a problem: Colina's missing, and nobody knows where she went!
Honey remembers seeing her running up into the hills a little while ago, and Farah knows that it's her own fault for hurting the girl's feelings. She insists on going to look for the singer. Reid, Melody and Keele go with her.
They're just in time to rescue Colina from a huge mudslide which almost engulfs her. Keele casts the hovering spell again and they all run for the bridge that will save them from the mudslide. The slide is still gaining so they summon the Craymels to hold it off, but for some reason the Craymels' powers don't work and they vanish. The group makes it to the bridge, but the mudslide destroys it while Reid and Farah are still partway across and they end up hanging from a single rope over the abyss.  Keele, Melody and Colina try to pull them up, but the rope snaps and Reid and Farah begin the long fall.
Just when it looks like they must be dead, Balonsa the dragon, with Marron astride, catches the rope and pulls the two to safety. Yes, while the others were out searching, Marron was looking too, and showed up just in time to save them.
Back on land, Colina is afraid that Farah will yell at her again, but the older girl apologizes and hugs her. A touching scene. After the typhoon, everyone goes back to the pool. Colina and Melody play in the water while Reid naps and Keele reads. Keele hides his face in his book because he's embarrassed around females in bathing suits. |^_^| He explains that human movement underwater is inefficient and that people were never meant to swim. Halfway through this monologue Farah pushes him into the pool. Then she jumps in after him, fully-clothed. Reid is soaked by all their splashing. Keele, who can't swim, instantly panics and begins to drown in chest-deep water.
Watching this scene on a strange screen are the three mysterious masked figures who have been following their progress all along. Who are these guys? What do they want? Well, you won't find out next episode, but maybe the one after that...anyway, tune in next time for TALES OF ETERNIA!
