Pluses:

Thai people are very friendly , the food is delicious and the beaches are some of the best in the world.

Negative:

Traffic in Bangkok is infamous for its gridlock. Pollution is heavy in the city. Currently entering the second year of a recession that could turn into a depression.

Don't come to Thailand to become rich but rather come with a great attitude and a flexible spirit and you will be able to make new friends and have some wonderful experiences.

Tim, I hope this is what you want and can use. I taught English in a local private Thai University part time for about three years. The students are really nice but many of them don't want to invest what it takes to learn a new language. Maybe the new era of the IMF will change that for them.
