Loyalty between an employee and the employer.  Or is there more to it than that??  There have been some who think there are homosexual overtures there.  The writers of the show are not really saying Smithers is gay but...  well...you decide.  *S*

BURNS: I think dogs are idiots! Think about it, Smithers. If I came into your house and started sniffing at your crotch and slobbering all over your face, what would you say?

Of course, we couldn't conclude this page without having a little input from Homer.  If the writers of the show are indicating that Smithers is gay, the indication is subtle.  Not Homers type!!
