Betty came to us on a cold February morning when we were living in a small town in Texas. There were eight girls in our family, and she was the fifth. I was ten years old at the time of her birth, and we were thrilled to death to have a new baby sister. We thought she was the cutiest baby in the world, and she was a beautiful baby, and she became a lovely woman. She was the Mother of three children, Donald, Tamera, and Jeffery, and was a wonderful Mother. There was nothing she wouldn't do for her children. She was my friend as well as my sister, and we had some great times together. I remember once when I went to see her and some of my other sisters, she came to my motel room, and we sat up almost all night doing each others hair and playing with make-up. Boy!! I still laugh when I think of the make-up jobs and the hair-dos. Then the time she came to visit with me when I was living on the lake. We had a boat house and there was a long pier out over the water. We sat on a bench out on the pier for what must have been hours, just talking about when we were all growing up, and the times when we had fun. That is the time I will never forget, for as it turned out, it was the last time I saw her. We didn't know when we said good-bye, it was for the last time. We will all miss her very much, but I know her children will miss her most. I just thank God she was a Christian, and we will all meet again in Heaven. What a wonderful day that will be!!
