This is a writing from the imagination of my eleven year
          old grand-daughtor, Tiffany Ann Jackson.
After all, that is the way legends are born.
Once long, long ago, there was an Indian princess named
Blue Moon. She and her best friend, Little Flower always
played together in their secret meeting place. One day
Little Flower went to the meeting place and waited and
waited, but Blue Moon didn't come. Little Flower was so
worried that she went all through the village and called
and called for her, but she couldn't find her anywhere.

The truth is, Blue Moon was chasing a beautiful blue
butterfly and forgot all about meeting Little Flower. She
chased the butterfly farther and farther from the village,
when suddenly the butterfly went flying up toward the
moon, beckening Blue Moon to follow, and she did follow.
When they reached the moon, it turned blue.

When Little Flower finnaly went home, she was very
sad for she missed her friend so much, then she looked
up and saw the blue moon for the very first time, and she
knew where her friend had gone. From then on she would
look up at the moon when it was blue and she wasn't so
lonely any more for she knew she was seeing her friend.

That is why the moon is blue from time to time, but
only the people of the Choctaw Nation know why it is
blue.
