Secret
Annexe -- Acoustic folk punk singer/songwriter/sloppy rock band from
Denham Springs, LA, whose founder, Rob Mulhearn, has been long time friends
with Two Month August and was actually once a member of the band. Rob has
also worked in the past with The Becoming Orange/Estereo and many other
bands. His current project, Secret Annexe, hopes to release a CD by the
end of this Summer. Rob has also worked on several collaborations with members
of Two Month August. His web site includes an extensive discography of his
work. |
1942
-- Complex chamelion progressive folk rock 'n roll improv influenced band
that is the ultimate outlet for all music too weird to play in a serious
band. 1942 is the current name of this ever evolving project which now includes
Shelby and Ryan Rushing of Two Month August, Rob Mulhearn, Kyle Bailey,
and Nathan Toups. The band (with Tim Whittington and minus Kyle and Nathan)
has recorded several improv-based cds under the name District Judge and
Rob Mulhearn, as well as performed many live shows. The band has been known
through the years as Tim and His Loser Friends, 1942, District Judge and
Rob Mulhearn, and Magnetic Poetry. |
Deez
Nutz -- Dirty South rap that blends the elements of an overflowing toilet,
adolescent perversion, and a very good rhyming dictionary. Deez Nutz, whose
members hail from Baton Rouge, has been flooding the local music scene with
obscene rhymes and outrageous live shows. Shelby of Two Month August recently
played with Mike and Derek from Deez Nutz in a self-consciously-sell-out-unnamed-cover-band,
but Shelby later quit the project because the need to play original music
became too great. |
Sparkely
V -- Ghetto fabulous geek rock with stock in Weezer and Failure. Also
known as their alterego, Werewolf, this Baton Rouge based band impressed
crowds all over LSU land. After the demise of Two Month August, Shelby played
several times with Matt of Sparkely V. Check out their music, though the
band is no longer together. |
Rye
-- Desperate to distance themselves from 311 and Sublime, this reggae rap
rock band has evolved into a musical monster over the past five or six years.
TMA and Rye have shared the stage several times at places such as the Shelter,
Rotolo's, and the Train Station in Denham Springs. They recently released
a CD through the Watson-based Nitrous Records, owned by Kevin Calmes. They're
a really tight band, and with nine members, that's definently a virtue.

Dream
Theater -- The epitome of 90's progressive metal and the pinnacle of
progressive music in general. The musicianship of this band is unsurpassed
by musicians of any genre. Though they don't sound much like Two Month August,
they certainly influenced individual members of the band. And TMA once played
one of their songs, so that makes them eligible for the links page, right?
In any case, they're a really good band that not many people have heard
of, so here's your chance. |
