Frogg Toggs are a lightweight, easily packable rainwear system that you can take with you 'just in case'. I mainly use the pants, as an overpant for my Darien when its just persisting down for long hauls, but the jacket is just as useful, to prevent the 'have to wear the heavy sodden cold jacket again in the morning' blues. The material would not survive a crash, but that's not the point of them. They're a cheap solution if you have bike gear that is waterproof almost all the time, except for heavy downpours.
Take note when you're ordering, though. They are sized BIG. I thought I would need an 4XL to go over my Darien jacket and padding (if its raining, its probably cold, so I'll be wearing other layers). They talked me into an 2XL, and I ended up sending that back for a L-XL - I'm 180 lbs and 5'10, and wear a large Darien with 34 pants, if that helps you get an idea. The pants are a snug fit but the jacket still has airspace.
Only complaint - the zips at the bottom of the pants aren't long enough to put them on without taking your boots off, so its an inside thing rather than a quick side of the road number. Conversely, this makes them harder to take off, although I've worn them long after the rain stopped, with the Darien pants and fleece, and found them as breathable as they claim.
