The Pro Taper handlebars are fantastic, they absorb a lot of the vibration that the steel handlebars would normally transmit.  Makes for a much more easy time in the saddle when you're doing long miles.  They are also the strongest design of handlebar on the market; my philosophy on bars in an adventure touring setup is that they should either be able to be bent back easily, or not bend at all, after an encounter with the ground.  This means the stock steel bars ( although after a number of re-bends you're into metal fatigue, not to mention your fatigue bending them back), or a bar like the Pro Taper, which the motocross lads even have a tough time damaging, and which won't bend in the first place.  A mid range aluminium bar may cure the vibes but after a fall, could leave you with a bent bar that you can't bend back at all.   There isn't a specific bend for the KLR650 but the KX High bend combined with the 3/4" rise of the adapters is as close as dammit to the stock setup.  You can order Pro-Taper through your local dealer or check out www.protaper.com

What's the chick got to do with tapered handlebars?  Uh...if I have to explain, you'll never understand...

Do you really need a reason anyway?
