The Move of 2000
The packers came in on the morning of March 8 (after Billings picked up 4 inches of new snow overnight) and took about 3 hours. These were taken just after they finished.
The snow created problems for the loaders so they held off until the morning of March 9. These are my belongings being loaded onto the van.
Hazardous working environments are often part of the job. Ice made clearing out my garage a mess.
After three hours the van is loaded and takes off for storage. It arrived in Hanford on March 22.
I was left with an empty apartment. These pictures were taken just before the cleaners arrived.
Pocatello from a distance, and up close. I see why it's called smokeatello by many of my co-workers.
Finally David has arrived in Hanford. Nope this is the Pocatello office. Thanks to good forecasts from this office (as well as from Elko and Reno), I was able to time my drive accordingly.
I spent the first night in Burley, and was swarmed by a group of girls (there was a basketball tournament going on). One of them took my trademark hat off my head and ran off with it (the hat which I had worn for several years and on the operations floor in Billings many times). I bought a replacement for it (a clone) in Reno the next night.
The famous canyon at Twin Falls. I always wondered where it was since I watched Evil Kenieval jump over it on a motorcycle in 1974 when I was at my grandparents place in New Jersey.
Jackpot
I had lunch in Elko then drove through heavy rains to Reno and arrived as the sun went down. I spent the night of March 11 in Reno (I've been there before though). This place is similar to Billings in many ways. These pictures were taken not long before I observed a drive by shooting at a Dairy Queen. I briefly visited seven casinos. The Virginian hotel was shut down when I returned in 2004.
I arrived in Hanford on March 12 and found a new home in six days. My belongings came in on the March 22. This is the office.
My new home.
