February 2002
I am now going to the doctor every two weeks and have entered the third trimester.  So far I am still feeling great, although I am getting tired easier.  It is a little of a relief to know that most babies would survive even if born prematurely at this time.  Last week at the doctor, I took the glucose tolerance test...drink a super-concentrated "Sprite" and then take a blood test an hour later.  Who knows what will be in store this week?!  We have put most of the "big" items together for the nursery and even bought a glider chair this weekend.  We are trying to get all this "nesting" accomplished before Michael goes offshore so that we will be ready!  We will be going through childbirth classes in March.

December 2001
During the December doctor's visit, we learned that everything looked normal on the ultrasound and the tri-screen test (for birth defects) came back normal.  Other blood tests looked good, except that my blood count was a little low.  So now I'm taking iron in addition to the regular prenatal vitamins.  Over the holidays, I really started feeling the baby move.  Now Michael can even feel it by touch!  We also toured
Christus St. Catherine hospital (only about 1/2 mile from our house)...it is probably where we'll have the baby.  We've also thought of tentative names...Ryan Joseph Ward for a boy and Grace Marie Ward for a girl. These are subject to change of course!  Here are pictures of the crib quilt we have to go with the white furniture!

November 2001

What an exciting month!  We heard the heartbeat loud and clear this time at the November doctor's visit.  We attended a "pregnancy class."  And most exciting of all...we had an ultrasound done.  Michael and I saw the baby doing flip-flops, sucking its thumb, and moving its little arms and legs.

October 2001

I have been feeling very tired...sometimes I can't keep my eyes open!  Other than this though, I have felt great with very little nausea!  I was able to hear the baby's heartbeat using "Doppler" during my October doctor's appointment.  This was a big relief, as was passing the 12-week milestone last week.  Coming soon...another visit to the doctor on November 6 and our first "pregnancy class" on November 12.
