Vutians: On Other Religions Keeping Intellectual Purity by David Morris |
||
Other religions are definitely an unusual point for the Vutians. We are certainly, in many ways, part of the Unitarian tradition of tolerance. However, we must take issue with the way many people are indoctrinated into other religions. Too many times, a person goes to a religion and thinks it just, "feels right". That's great. But does it really mean one should give up one's beliefs? I have known many Vutian children who were highly discouraged by their experiences with other religions. Too many times, the others seemed to want them to turn off their thinking caps for something which is really quite dangerous. I'm talking about an attitudte that berates intellectual curiosity. This is the principal aim of many religions. Further, many have disastrious anti-sexual views and anti-woman views. |
