The Quest For Tickets this is just a few memories of how i did or did not get tickets over the years. Sept 1 1978- i was searching for weed. not tickets when i drove by a popular spot in Plainview, NY (long Island) I found my friend who had weed and he told me he had an extra ticket to see the dead at the meadowlands the next day. i took the ticket. $10. We waited all nite partying and waiting for the buss that would eventually take us there. We all got in but i found myself forcefully being thrown out of giants stadium, because they believed i jumped the big blue wall. I didn't but they didn;t believe me. out the gates i went. then i was in search of a ticket. 15 minutes and $15 later I found another ticket and went in and enjoyed my first dead show 5/5/81 Glens falls, NY I hitchhiked from my college town of potsdam, NY to see the boys. it was about a 6 hour hitch and I got there late. they may have taken the stage already by the time I got there. I knew i had to find a ticket fast. I saw a crowd of people so i went towards the crowd. Everybody was offering this guy money. he wanted $20 but no one would give it to him. they offered $10 or $15 and kept begging him for the ticket. I take out $20 and say to the guy here's $20, he handed me the ticket just as fast as he took the money. Everyones jaw dropped as i walked away with his last ticket. I still laugh at those cheap assholes today!!! 4/16 or 17/83 Brendan Byrne Arena, NJ. It was pouring rain. we didn't have tickets. we were getting high in our car and some dude walks up to us and offers us tickets for more than we want to pay, but hey, it's raining, and we didn't want to get wet looking for tickets, OK 000200000D91000006BCD8B,we said giving him money. He then offered us tickets for next week at new haven for more money than we wanted to pay. We laughed at him saying don't worry we'll find better tickets cheaper. (see next story) 4/22/83 new Hven Coliseum- FUCK FUCK FUCK, I knew we should have gotten the tickets from that guy at the Brendan Byrne. This was the very first time I couldn't find a ticket for a show. FUCK FUCK FUCK 12/30 - 31/83 san Francisco Civic Center- My girl and i flew out to the promised land without tickets of course. Even though it's the new years eve shows we felt confident enough that we'd find tickets. we got to SF on the 29th. No tickets. we looked for tickets all day on the 30th with no luck. the show starts and we're still outside. It's funny the way some things happen for a reason. wandering around the civic center that evening, strangely enough saw a guy willing to sell two tickets for $60 ea. that made not getting in that nite a lot easier to bear. 12/31/84 San Frascisco civic Center- No tickets on the 29th or 30th. We had only heard a few cases where people found tickets for $150 - $200 each. Me and carolyn were down to less than $100 between the both of us. we figured we wouldn't see the show. the gates opened up and people started heading in. About a half an hour before showtime a college buddy from Potsdam NY was there offering me 2 tickets at price. $50 for the pair. I was so fucking amazed that i gave him $60 and told him to keep the rest. while i never got "miracled" into a show, i consider this my "miracle" ticket. 7/2/88 Oxford plains, Maine- My birthday show and my girlfriends second favorite band, Little feat opened up. We got there late and miraculously found a parking spot directly in front of the place. I mean directly. Being my birthday i took my license out and announced that it was my birthday and need tickets for the show. 5 minutes. simple. great show too. if you don't have the tape get it. Madison Square Garden sometime in september 1988, I'm not sure which show. with the now commercial success of touch of grey came the crowds and tickets were much harder to find. My now wife ( being the true alcoholic that she is), went to a bar to drink while i looked for tickets. couldn't find any. I'd pop in at the bar from time to time but no luck for tickets. when i went back to her at one point she casually said she bought tickets from this other alcoholic who'd rather stay at the bar and drink. His loss i thought, but nevertheless we went and enjoyed the show. 10/11/89 Brendan Bryne Arena, NJ. I went to this show without my wife. I remember driving the hour and a half to get to the arena. Being guided to parking lots which were not my choice I look aver and see my good friend jeff being corralled and driving right next to me. We lived fairly close together but left 2 hours apart and came thru 2 different routes. I took the south route to the arena and he took the north. We were amazed that we ended up driving right next to each other at the exact same time. We parked and as soon as I got out of my car an guy offered me tickets for the next monday show which turned out to be Bobbies birthday show for 10/16/89 I din't get in to any of the brendan byrnwe shows except for bobbies birthday. what a show Dark star> Playin> uncle johns>Playin> drums> space>take you home>Miracle>Dark star> Attics>playin enc.
