I've only been to five or six shows, and unfortunately never had a
ticket to see the show inside. If it was anything like the show on the
outside I'm sad that I'll never get to see it. Anyway. I was outside selling devil sticks one year. Both my friend and I were tripping. He got into show and had a real good time. Sometime in the middle of the show I'm walking around outside. I could feel the vibe of everyone grooving inside. --- Man just writing this makes me miss it even more --- That vibe was flowing out of the stadium. I could feel that everyone was a part of the show. Then it was like I could see them playing. Except it wasn't just the band, it was everybody. The band was just there channeling what the audience was directing them to play. Needless to say it was really cool. Then I see my friend, who was inside. He's up there jamin' on the bass. He played only a few notes before the next person came to do their thing. Strange thing is he saw me to. I gave him a thumbs up sign. It was a way
cool groove. This vision lasted about 10 minutes or so. Everyone in the audience each contributed their spirit or whatever to making the music I heard that night. After the concert was over, I met up with my friend. Mind you he was inside while I was outside the whole time. The first thing he said was 'Hey man! Did you see me playin?'. I shook my head and said yeah. Pretty cool. I later read one of Mickey Hart's books in which he described the show as a shamanic experience in which everybody there is part of the music. I can testify as a witness to that. The connection that everybody in the show had was a unique thing to see. I only wish I could have experienced it first hand.
