I don't remember what year it was except for the fact it rained too damn much. Anyway, my friend Susan and I were at RFK stadium in DC for a GD show of course and it had rained like hell, mud everywhere. We are looking for a place to park my 1973 VW and a Chevy blazer in front of us gets stuck in this huge mud pit. There are about three guys trying to push these poor folks out of the hole so me and Susan hop on out and decide to get muddy with the rest of them and help push. The mud is a good bit above our ankles maybe about 3 inches or so. So anyway we actually manage to get the truck unstuck and away they go.
Now it's my turn. There wasn't really much room to turn around so
we knew we had to go through. I thinking shit maybe we can float across:-)
All sorts of people are like hey we'll push. So I'm like okay we will get
across one way or another. Now my little buggie had a bit of ass too her
thanks to a high performance trans and a few modifications so I'm thinking
we just back up and hit the gas we should make it at least half way and
push the rest. By this time there are people every where waiting to see
us get stuck in the mud. So I back her on up a good and bit and decide
to put on a show. I was revving the engine up making the front end pop
up a little and everyone starts cheering so I let of the clutch and off
we went. It was great mud flyin everywhere, people hootin and hollerin
and the little bug slippin and slidin all over the damn place. We actually
made it over the mud pit. And everyone there was drunk stoned and covered
in mud. When we got out we were bombarded with people giving us beer and
Js for a job well done. It just goes to show with a little perseverance
and faith a good ol' Volkswagen will get you where ever the hell you want.
I miss that car.
